SABA was founded in 1983 in Bob and Jan Paeth's basement.  The founding members were Bob Paeth, Bob Robinson and Ron Martinolich.  The mission of SABA is to continue to promote the hobby of model building with a focus on model cars, motorcycles and trucks.

Over the years the membership of the club has had the normal ebb and flow of any organization.  

Members of SABA have over the years been the personal behind many of the model contests in the Portland metro area as well as the Pacific Northwest.  SABA members have served as judges for model contest all of the United States.

SABA has presented the Pacific Northwest Model Car Fest since 1990.  The event is currently held at the Airport Holiday Inn.  Club members also serve as the promoters of the Bob Paeth Portland Classic Model Car Contest.  Which has been held for the past 42 years in conjunction with the Portland Roadster Show.  Members have served as judges and promoters for many Model Car Contest held throughout the PNW.

Through out the year SABA members assist local car clubs with model displays at Cruise Ins through out the Portland area.  The club promotes the hobby through the use of model building seminars at local hobby shops.  In order to promote the hobby to a larger audience members provide a day long build and display at the Oregon State Fair.

SABA is fortunate to have members who are passionate about the Model Car Hobby.  Members of the club have been published in many of the Model Building Publications over the years.   Members of the club have been instrumental in the development of the Model Car Hobby.  SABA has been graced with members who have worked for and developed models that we all grew up with.

The future of Scale Auto Builders Ass'n is bright as we look forward to the coming year, making new friends, finding new techniques, pushing one another to bigger and better things.

SABA meets the second Sunday of the month at 6 PM.  We meet at Round Table Pizza located at 4141 NE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230

New Menbers are alwasy welcome.  Dues are $2.50 month with a one time initation fee of $14.

SABA is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit orginization.
